Nestled in the picturesque hills of Assam lies Karbi Anglong, a region rich in cultural heritage and home to the Karbi tribe - one of India's indigenous communities. The Karbi Youth Tribal Festival, also known as "Ka-Honam," stands as a beacon of celebration, unity, and understanding amongst different communities.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, the Karbi Youth Tribal Festival is an annual event that showcases the vibrant culture of the Karbi people. From traditional art and folk dances to music, rituals, and sports, the festival provides a platform for the Karbi youth to embrace their unique identity.

While primarily focused on the Karbi culture, the festival warmly welcomes neighboring communities to participate. This inclusivity promotes cultural exchange, as groups from tribes like Dimasa, Bodo, Tiwa, and Garo come together to share their heritage and traditions.

The festival serves as a melting pot of diverse cultures, where attendees can immerse themselves in the beauty of Karbi traditions. Through dance performances, music, handicraft exhibitions, and culinary delights, tribes showcase their cultural richness, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation amongst all participants.

Not only does the festival promote social harmony and understanding, but it also boosts local economies through the promotion and sale of traditional crafts and cuisine. This exposure not only adds to the festival's vibrant atmosphere but also empowers local artisans and entrepreneurs, highlighting the importance of preserving traditional arts and crafts.

As the Karbi Youth Tribal Festival continues to grow and flourish, it solidifies its place as a symbol of inclusiveness, cooperation, and the unwavering dedication of the Karbi people to safeguard their heritage. Through the celebration of diverse cultures and the fostering of mutual respect, the festival paves the way for a brighter, more united future for all communities involved.

We reached here from Ranchi taking a flight from Kolkata to Dimapur (Nagaland) which is the nearest airport to Karbi Anglong. From there we take Train to Diphu. Train is also a better option to reach here as has to take a train from Guwahati to Diphu.
